It kicks off in two days…

On Monday, the FISU World Forum is inaugurated. Lovisa Broms, chair person of the Organising Committe, is full of anticipation in the days leading up to the event.

“With the forum fast approaching, the feeling these days is a mix of anticipation, pride and confidence ahead of the week to come. I would particularly like to recognise everyone who is making the forum possible, both staff and volunteers. It is impressive to see the level of commitment, professionalism and team spirit that characterises the work being done. Thanks to all these efforts, I feel confident that we will deliver a truly inspiring and memorable FISU World Forum in Östersund next week. As an added bonus, it even looks as though the weather will play its part as well.”

From SAIF’s perspective, why is it important for an event like this to be held in Sweden?

“The FISU World Forum is an important meeting place for university sport. For SAIF, hosting the event in Sweden represents a unique opportunity to showcase the Swedish model of university sport, strengthen international partnerships, and create new opportunities for Swedish students and higher education institutions. The event also helps to reinforce Sweden’s position within university sport and higher education.”

What do you hope the forum will lead to?

“I hope the forum will lead to new ideas, collaborations and connections that continue long after the participants have left Östersund. The forum is a unique meeting place for students, higher education institutions and university sport organisations from around the world, but it is also an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between stakeholders here in Sweden. If participants return home with new knowledge, fresh inspiration and stronger networks, both nationally and internationally, then the forum will have been a success. I also hope the forum can help further highlight the importance of university sport for students’ personal development, health and overall study experience.”

Is there anything on the programme that is particularly close to your heart?

“There are many exciting sessions and inspiring speakers throughout the week, but one element that is particularly close to my heart is the Forum Fair, which takes place on the very first evening. It is a fantastic opportunity for participants to get to know one another, share their cultures and build new connections in a relaxed setting. I think it is a wonderful way to kick off the week and create an open and welcoming atmosphere for the rest of the forum.”
