There is something special about Sweden.
Located in northern Europe we live our lives from endless summer nights to northern lights. From city pulse to vast nature. From Swedish fika to fine dining.
There is something special about Östersund, host city of next FISU World Forum. Located in the middle of Sweden we value outdoor activities and strive to make our city and surroundings accessible to all. We enjoy at least five, not four, seasons and embrace them all. As a city of diversity, believing in inclusion.
All year round, we love our day trips to the mountain destinations, just an hour away. And we believe there is something special about every season of the year.
We love our winters with long-distance skating trails on the ice of Lake Storsjön and we relax with late winter sunbathing at the shoreline. We like springtime shopping and our cozy courtyards with cafés and restaurants.

In the summer we enjoy music concerts at Swedens oldest city festival and we have been designated by UNESCO as a Creative City of Gastronomy so why not try local fish, cheeses, elk and reindeer meat, and take home some delicious memories?
In the autumn we gladly welcome students back to campus and we follow our national teams in biathlon and cross-country skiing getting ready for next season as they live and train in Östersund, testing their skills at the Olympic test centre for winter sports in Sweden at Mid Sweden University.

Yes, there is something special about this university, the venue for 2026, based on a strong research focus on sports, performance and health. In the middle of Östersund you find our campus with 3000 students – all with student housing guarantee – aiming for a brighter future through research-oriented education in various fields. You also find innovative development of products, technology and methods in the field of sports and outdoor activities, but also in rehabilitation support and equipment for the special needs of the disabled. The unique research environment attracts leading companies from Europe within the sports and outdoor sector for various cooperations.
And, of course, there is something special about a city that is growing.
Within our region with 120 000 inhabitants you easily find traces of our multicultural past, present and future including Sweden´s indigenous people, the Sami. Together we face strong future outlook with plenty of innovative companies, international research projects and passionate individuals who dare to think differently. A lot of them are, in various ways, linked to the only university in south Saepmie, Mid Sweden University.

And finally – there is something special about next FISU World Forum.
For the first time it´s coming to Östersund – to endless summer nights and northern lights. To city pulse and vast nature. To Swedish fika and fine dining.
And you´re all welcome!
